Being a company strong on societal values, the Green Bag Co. places premium importance from the start to the very end of our supply chain, with the improvement of our environment being the prime consideration.

When talking about environment we speak not only of the Australian ecosystem, which we feel we have greatly helped in the past 3 years by tackling the single-use plastic bag problem, but also the other end of our supply chain. This belief has seen the company vertically integrate ourselves downstream with our production partners. Green Bag Co now jointly-owns the factory facility which has seen stringent Western practices applied to Eastern production.

We have in recent times been independently audited by the Masterfoods (Mars) Group of Aust/NZ. We also have another audit pending with the AMC (Target) Group of the US. Working practices employed in the facility is central audits, with particular attention focussing on employment practices.

Each and every one of our workers has a personnel file which, going above and beyond local laws and even those seen here in Australia, sees our employee’s details recorded such as age, dental records, continual health checks etc. This practice is uncommon in China but is an expected norm in the US. Aside from US expectations we feel we have a duty of care and responsibility for these workers who are an integral part of our operation.

From most if not all of the larger organisations we deal with, at some stage we have encountered client sensitivity towards Chinese manufacture and we are no less sensitive, if not more sensitive, than others to this issue. The Australian marketplace has seen many entrants and it is not uncommon knowledge that cheaper product can be sourced particularly from unregulated regions Western China. However this is an area where our company has no intention of ever being involved in- ethics, morals and conscience will not be substituted for cheaper product.

We are extremely content with our facility which ensures a uniformity of quality. Many Chinese agents use a number of suppliers to fulfil a large order as they do not have the capacity to produce large volumes. This leads to a poor control of quality and resultant questioning of where the product has been sourced and to who’s detriment. Green Bag Co does not have this concern with all parts of the process being conducted in our premises.
